An exhibition explaining the hidden messages carried by objects as diverse as a Victorian wedding dress and Pictish carved stones opens tomorrow at Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery. Breaking the Code is one of a series of exhibitions and events being organised by Fife’s 13 museums and art galleries this year on the theme of Making Connections: Communi-cation in Fife. Throughout history, symbols and colours have been used as a means of silent communication, conveying messages to those who understood the “language”. The exhibition, which runs until August 12, reveals why the Queen always looks to the right on coins and why blue is such a popular colour in the western world. It also invites visitors to have a closer look at contemporary graffiti.
