I feel some concern that in criticising new community schools your correspondent Ian Swanson (TESS, February 28) might lead readers to think that psychologists are opposed to such developments.
The reality is that many of us expect that the concept will assist us in ensuring that special educational needs are met, and that it will lead to greater equality and effectiveness in partnerships between child, family and school.
In Scotland, psychologists have summarised issues in a profess-ional development paper available online (www.LTScotland.co.uk pdp).
