A further 14 councils have been given confirmation of funding to roll out the new community school approach in their areas, bringing the total to 30. The first 16 were announced in May. The Executive hopes to agree proposals with the remaining two councils, Dundee and Shetland, “over the coming weeks”. The latest announcement follows on from last November’s announcement by Jack McConnell, the then Education Minister, that pound;30.6 million would be provided for the extension of the scheme over the next two years.
