An in-school half-day workshop in theatrical make-up and pound;100-worth of make-up for your school’s drama department is the first prize in a competition for students aged up to 18, being run by The Society of Teachers of Speech and Drama and the Treasure House of Make-Up. A photo of the finished make-up and an accompanying character sheet on the theme of “A character from JRR Tolkien” should be submitted by each pupil by the end of this term. Designs can include wigs, costumes and props and prosthetics, but not masks. The best 15 will compete in the final to be held in Birmingham on March 5. As well as the above prizes, the winner will receive make-up worth pound;30 and a certificate of merit. Treasure House of Make-Up, 71 Church Street, Horwich, Bolton BL6 6AA.
