The annual Schools Aerospace Challenge run by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers invites teams of five students aged 16 to 19 to combine their research and design skills to come up with an airship-based surveillance system for the UK. Closing date May 25. The best teams will attend residential courses at the School of Engineering, Cranfield University in August, where the winning team is awarded pound;5,000 to share with their institution. www.imeche.org.ukaerospace_challenge
