Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre and Whitbread in the Community are inviting local young playwrights aged 14-20 to write a short play and submit it by October 11. Willy Russell is one of the judges. To help the creative process, a series of summer workshops on how to develop and test ideas, improvise and act will be led by well-known professional writers and creative writing teachers. The initiative culminates in a New Writing Festival in November when some of the plays will be performed and playwrights will have the chance to appear alongside professional actors.
