PRUDENTIAL YOUTH ACTION AWARDS With this initiative, Crime Concern and Prudential are recognising youth action groups involved in preventing shop theft or reducing the fear of crime. A prize of Pounds 1,000 will be awarded to category winners in three age ranges, 11-13, 14-16 and 16-plus, and a further Pounds 1,000 and a trophy will be awarded to the best overall project. SCIENCE CHALLENGE The Association for Science Education and British Association for the Advancement of Science, sponsored by Nuclear Electric, are inviting pupils aged 9-13 to carry out science investigations on topics of their choice. To carry on to stage two - and the chance to join a day of science investigations, drama and quizzes, hosted by Jenny Hull of BBC’s How Do They Do That? - schools must submit by March 31 an A2 broadsheet summary of their classroom project. DESIGN A CHRISTMAS CARD Stannah Stairlifts and Arthritis Care are inviting budding artists in two age categories, 16 and under and over 16, to design a Christmas card and submit it by March 31. The two winning designs will receive Pounds 500 each. Proceeds from the sale of the cards go directly to Arthritis Care.
