Has your group conducted an interesting and rewarding scientific experiment or investigation this year? If so, they could become Spotlight Scientists of the Year. Nelson Thornes and the Association for Science Education are inviting individual students or groups to send in their reports by May 25. Up to 50 young scientists in age categories 11-12, 12-13 and 13-14 will receive special awards and a Nelson Thornes science book and their teachers will get special offers and free resources. “Bringing Energy to Life”, organised by the Insttution of Mechanical Engineering, requires teams of key stage 3 students to design a website showing how energy helps us to enjoy a high standard of living and the effect it has on the environment. Closing date May 25. The winning team will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to London including visits to the Science Museum, London Eye and a West End Show. Five regional winners will receive a digital camera and colour printer for their school.
