The Sculpture 4 Kids competition requires schoolchildren aged four to six, seven to 10 and 11 to 13 to create a piece of sculpture on the theme “the Rainforest” using everyday materials. Closing date for registration is January 28 and for photographs of entries April 20. At the final at the Royal British Society of Sculptors in London on May 26, pound;10,000 will be divided between the three winners. A roadshow of finalists’

pieces will then tour schools and art institutions.

A choice of 45 free primary art and craft kits are available until June 2005 in exchange for star tokens from Persil packets. Registering schools receive a free stART with drawing pack about using the environment as a resource, and can enter the Persil Hands-on Art Awards, by submitting group-based art and design projects by February 4 based on what different environments might be like in the future. The top three in each category - four to seven, seven to ten and 10 to 12 - will win a Persil Art Day for their school led by an artist, designer or illustrator.
