TETRA PAK AWARD FOR PRIMARY ENVIRONMENTAL TEACHING

Nominations from parents, pupils, friends, colleagues or the teachers themselves are invited by February 25. Six finalists will be selected for their original approaches to environmental teaching, motivation of children and their ongoing commitment to integrating environmental teaching into the curriculum. First prize is pound;2,000 divided equally between the teacher and school plus an all-expenses paid trip to Sweden to see the Tetra-Pak production facility and well-managed forests. SCHOOLS RECYCLING COMPETITION

The more aluminium cans schools recycle the more funds they can raise for school equipment or the development of a conservation area within the school. The Aluminium Can Recycling Association is asking schools to e-mail its Website each month with details of the weight of cans they have collected and the number of pupils involved in the scheme. Photos and details of winning schools are put up on the site, which also includes lesson plans covering science, English, mathematics and information technology, colour posters and facts about cans. QUALITY TEACHERS OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Quality Teachers agency is inviting schools in the Midlands to nominate supply teachers (provided by the agency) for outstanding performance. The winner will receive pound;1,000 and the nominating school a choice of pound;1,000 or 10 days’ free supply teaching.
