Complain at once

IN "Our inspector was racist", (TES, March 16), Archimedes advised that a complaint abour an inspector should be delayed until the inspection is over if there is concern that the complaint could affect the outcome of the inspec- tion. This is incorrect.

Anyone who has a complaint should tell the inspector at once. If the complainant does not feel confident to do this then the complaint should be addressed to the contractor.

The inspector would not be able to mark down the school as a means of "getting back" at a com plainat. Safeguards are in place to ensure the inspection's integrity.

If the complainant is not satisfied with the response from the inspector or contractor they should then contact OFSTED.

Archimedes writes: I agree with Mr Mason about immediate action, but my advice was aimed at someone who had been bullied.

I thought it better to report the problem later than not at all.
