THE Royal Northern College of Music is launching two new postgraduate composition courses in September 2001: a one-year Master of Music, a two-year part-time option and a two-year MPhil. Students will have opportunities to have their works performed with the RNCM New Ensemble and other leading professionals. The courses lead to degrees from the University of Manchester.

The RCM is also running a Junior Fellowship in Conducting Scheme, under which young conductors work with the college orchestras and opera department. Successful candidates will receive an honorarium of pound;6,750.

For further information, contact Adam Gorb, head of the School of Composition and Contemporary Music at the RNCM. Tel: 0161 907 5276. E-mail: adam.gorb@rncm.ac.uk
