Schoolchildren in Liverpool are heading for the pub .... not to drink, but to study. The initiative has been introduced by a landlord and his son. Carl Disley (on left of picture), 22, who assists his father, Anthony, at the Oakfield in Anfield, said: “There are always lots of young people hanging around outside the pub and we wanted to help them. They told us their schools aren’t interested in them because they’re not the brightest in the class. They want to learn but they just feel forgotten about.” Carl invited the children to use his computer in a room at the pub. He added: “My dad lent me his computer and I got hold of a third. I’ve helped the kids to use the internet and discover learning games like Keyboard Crazy.” Carl hopes to buy more computers and find a permanent home for the group.
