To the STUC in Perth where the Educational Institute of Scotland continues to be a dominant force among the union brethren. Ronnie Smith even commands a prominent seat on the platform, as befits an esteemed member of its general council.
The EIS general secretary listened intently to the education debate, as did Ken Wimbor, assistant secretary, and the fine words on class sizes from Jack Barnett, union president.
Barnett drew international comparisons on class sizes and an analogy rather closer to home. “Scotland is the Dunfermline Athletic or even Livingston of the premier league when it comes to class sizes,” he gibed.
What a coincidence that Wimbor is a big fan of the Fifers and Smith a renowned Livvie man. Nice to have an “in” gag, Jack.
