David Blunkett, Education and Employment Secretary, will be speaking at this term’s first major education conference, sponsored by The Times Educational Supplement and the National Union of Teachers. Entitled “Progress in Partnership - a new deal for education”, it will be held at the Queen Elizabeth II conference centre, London, on September 16.

Other speakers include Professor Michael Barber, head of the Department for Education and Employment’s School Effectiveness Unit, Chris Woodhead, chief inspector, Nick Tate, chief executive of the School Curriculum and Assessment Authority, Adair Turner, head of the Confederation of British Industry, and Andrew Foster, of the Audit Commission.
