"Citizenship, Thinking and Philosophy for Children" is the theme of an international conference at King Alfred's College, Winchester, July 12-17. It includes a special focus weekend, July 14-15, for teachers and researchers who cannot attend the whole week. Speakers include Professor Richard Pring, Oxford University, and Professor Walter Kohan, Brasilia University and International Council for Philosophical Inquiry with Children president. The Historical Association's Conference of the True Millennium will be held in Grey College, Durham University, July 25-28. Lectures include Sir Arnold Wolfendale on "1,000 Years of Astronomy: where next?"; Professor David Knight on "1,000 Years of Science"; and Revd Dr Gavin Wakefield on "1,000 Years of Christianity".
