The Artist Teacher Scheme, run by the National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD), offers continuing professional development to artist-teachers through galleries, universities and colleges of art and design. It is holding a national symposium, “Models of practice, modes of delivery” at Tate Modern, London SE1, March 18. The scheme is being evaluated by the Centre for Educational Development, Analysis and Research (CEDAR) at Warwick University and the symposium will discuss CEDAR’s interim findings. Fee: pound;25.

Hailed in The TES (September 17, 2004), as the Michel Thomas of the watercolour world, Hugh Templeton will be holding a workshop to introduce primary teachers to watercolour at Whalley Abbey conference centre, Lancashire on March 17. Some free places available to those accompanying teachers.

The NSEAD’s annual conference will be held at Tate Modern, London SE1, June 17, and its research into practice conference at the University of Hertfordshire, July 7-8. The theme will be context in the interpretation of artefacts and visual semantics.

Power Drawing weekend workshops, part of the NSEAD artist-teacher scheme, will explore the power of drawing. They will be held at Kingston University, Surrey, July 14-16, Bath Spa University College School of Art and Design, September 8-10, and Glasgow School of Art, September 15-17.

As part of Ceramic Art London, an exhibition at the Royal College of Art, Kensington Gore, London SW7, March 3-5, ceramist Kate Malone is giving a lecture and seminar entitled “Vision and Inspiration”. It will explore the works on display and show how teachers can achieve similar results from students with minimal equipment. Free with entry into the exhibition (Pounds 10). She will follow up with two teachers’ workshops in April and September at Dean College, Sussex.

Making it Work is a programme of teachers’ workshops led by craftspeople from Reading Museum. Locations for 2006 include Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire, Worksop, Gateshead, Cambridge, Somerset and Lancashire.
