The English Association is joining forces with the Shakespeare Institute and the Royal Shakespeare Company to hold a conference, Whose Shakespeare? at the institute, June 2-4. The event will also celebrate the RSC’s year-long production of Shakespeare’s complete works. The programme includes a lecture on teaching Shakespeare by Philip Beadle, secondary teacher of the year, 2004, and a performance of Antony and Cleopatra, starring Patrick Stewart and Harriet Walter. A pre-performance lecture will be given by Dr Catherine Alexander, and there will be another session where actors from the play will answer questions.

The National Association for the Teaching of English is holding its Cymru annual day course and conference at Hotel Metropole, Llandrindod Wells, July 3. Teachers of all key stages, advisers and teacher trainers welcome.
