“Celebrating history” is the theme of the Historical Association’s annual conference and AGM at the Wallace Collection, Hertford House, Manchester Square, London W1, April 5. The programme comprises a range of lectures and guided visits around the treasures of the collection, which includes French 18th-century pictures, 17th-century pictures and an impressive armoury. Lectures include: Hadrian’s Wall; and “War means Whisky! Liquor control and the Carlisle experiment, 1915-21”. Parallel sessions will be run on Border history, the loss of the American colonies, ICT and history and the French Revolution together with guided visits.
