“Craft and design: where are they now?”, the National Society for Education in Art and Design’s annual conference due to be held in May, was postponed.

It will now take place at Camberwell College of Arts, June 28. Speakers will explore the theme in the context of Ofsted evidence and independent research showing that traditional art and design activities are in decline in schools. Fee: pound;75; pound;65 members; pound;25 student members.

The Artist Teacher Scheme, run by the National Society for Education in Art and Design and supported by the Arts Council of England, is delivered through a range of courses offered in eight centres in England. The programme consists of a summer school, workshops, seminars and visits.

Students can continue with a part-time MA in fine art. Fees vary.

On Children’s Art Day, July 3, special events will be staged in museums, galleries and schools all over the country, followed by family events, July 5-6. The annual Artworks: Young Artists of the Year Awards will be presented at a special ceremony at London’s Tate Modern, winning entries to be displayed at Tate Modern and on the Artworks website.

Art in Action, a showcase of art and craft from around the world, will be held at Waterperry, Oxfordshire, July 17-20. Activities include practical classes and storytelling for children.

It gives details of artists available for residencies, case studies of their work in and out of school, practical information for planning workshop programmes and information on regional workshops about artists’ working methods and the advantages of collaborating with them.
