A special World of Work day at Graeme High in Falkirk has given every third-year pupil an insight into various careers in development and construction industries.

Held at the school by property developers Cala Homes last week, the event gave pupils the chance to talk to 14 employees from land buying and planning, civil engineering, architecture, sales and marketing, plumbing, electricity, joinery, painting, decorating, roofing, bricklaying, site management, quantity surveying, office administration and site engineering.

The day was part of a larger project to give pupils experience of the different types of work a housebuilder does, from construction to design and marketing. They will also visit Kinnaird Village, the firm’s development in Larbert, which will contain almost 1,500 homes, a primary school, shopping facilities and a business park.
