* The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities is offering a pound;100m package which could see salaries rise by up to 20 per cent in return for teachers accepting performance-related pay and working extra hours. Scottish teachers have rejected proposals, claiming they amount to a 3 per cent increase in return for extra work.
The EIS said the local authorities’ offer was a “deep insult” while the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers called it derisory.
