I am a geography teacher and produce a great deal of my own material for use in lessons. Who owns the copyright to this material?
The copyright of work produced by teachers written during the course of their employment, even if actually done at home and out of school-time, belongs to the school, unless there is a prior agreement to the contrary. If a teacher wants to use the material elsewhere, in a book for example, the school could either ask that its copyright be acknowledged, one would hope without charge, or waive its copyright altogether.
