Does this call for a strict inspection regime ring any bells? “Good teachers have nothing to fear, but everything to gain, from having their work ... fairly tested. The results must be that methods of instruction will be improved, incompetent teachers dismissed and inefficient schools closed.” But this is not an Ofsted press release. In fact it comes from the Cornish Telegraph of January 8, 1878. Nothing changes.
