The timeline in “Class act” (TES Magazine, January 14) stated that “two of the first five schools assessed by the Charity Commission fail[ed] to get charitable status because they (did) not offer sufficient bursaries”. In fact, although the schools initially failed the pilot public benefit test, both later provided the Charity Commission with plans of action that satisfied it. The commission has yet to remove charitable status from any independent school.
