Council ‘jumps the gun’

East Renfrewshire has been accused of “jumping the gun” by the Educational Institute of Scotland after agreeing to pilot a twin-track promotion structure.

The council wants two primaries and two secondaries to test an advanced skills teacher scheme, similar to that south of the border. Staff on salaries of pound;27,000 would be encouraged to take on research and development tasks and support teachers in their own school and in others.
