The Copyright Licensing Agency has started a six-week programme of visits to Scottish schools to investigate their photocopying practices.
With 75,000 pages of copied material expected to be produced in all local authority schools during that time, the evidence will be used in talks with the Convenion of Scottish Local Authorities over a renewal of the schools’ licence, worth pound;250,000 last year.
Jim McNeilage, who has opened the CLA’s first Scottish office in Edinburgh, said: “Our licence allows schools to copy extracts and at a cost of 70p per pupil, it’s remarkably good value.”
