On average, primary schools spend little more than a pound per pupil, per year on art materials, and in some it’s as little as 60p. Persil’s “Get Creative” initiative aims to make another pound;7 million available, provided parents remember to collect their tokens when they do the weekly shopping. Once the scheme begins in October, resources will range from giant face-painting pens to packs of craft paper, including hard metallic sheets. Schools will determine the final choice from a colourful, comprehensive catalogue, assembled with advice from art advisers who also provide lesson plans. Schools can register by phone with the “Get Creative” scheme of collecting “Persil Stars”.
