The Scottish Executive’s announcement last week of another cultural review, the third since devolution, took on the air of policies on enterprise education.

“The creativity of Scots, from the classroom to the boardroom, is the edge we need in a competitive world,” Frank McAveety, Culture Minister, said.

The creation of a new blueprint will be in the hands of a culture commission headed by James Boyle, who chairs the Scottish Arts Council.

“Creativity is as valuable in retail, education, health, government and business as in culture,” Mr McAveety said.

The commission is charged with acknowledging “the importance of education in all its findings and (liaising) where appropriate with the curriculum review”.
