North Kessock Primary in Highland represented Scotland at the British Schools’ Kwik Cricket Championship finals at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, during the summer holidays.

The school had to raise pound;2,000 at short notice to make the trip but did so with help from various agencies, including Highland education department and local sports co-ordinators.

Sixteen schools from all over Britain competed to be champions. North Kessock Primary was drawn in a tough opening group which included eventual winner Christ Church CE Junior school in Ealing and lost all its three matches.

Scotland’s under-17 squad won their European championship in Denmark with wins over Denmark (by 179 runs), Ireland (by 28 runs) and the Netherlands (by 46 runs).

The national under-15 squad had to be content with third place in their European tournament on Tayside.
