Steven Seligmann, the west of Scotland development officer for Cricket Scotland, will host a workshop for schoolchildren and coaches at Glasgow Academy on April 3. Coaching will take place from 10-11.30am and the coaches’ workshop from 12-4pm.

Eight schools in the Glasgow area are taking part in an initiative to get more schools playing cricket all year round. Mr Seligmann hopes to host an indoor tournament for Ayrshire schools within the next few months.

Meanwhile, Andy Tennant, the west of Scotland development officer from 1999 to 2002, has been appointed as youth development manager for Cricket Scotland. Mr Tennant, who is a member of Prestwick Cricket Club, aims to increase schools’ participation in the sport and attract more girls to the game.
