Presumably “bad” (and therefore expendable) teachers will not be politically correct if they are not in favour of the Ofsted inspection regime. The new educational McCarthyism represents a disturbing authoritarian trend to further pedagogical control and the calculated prohibition of a creative learning process. There seems no good reason why bureaucratic self-interest should be supported. Nor should the new managerialism be allowed to triumph unopposed in the name of mere platitudes. A spirit of enquiry and criticism must inform the agenda which is dictated from above.
