There’s cool and there’s Crucial, and the memory company’s new Gizmo! flash memory device is a bit of both. This really is key ring-compatible (some of the others are inclined to fall off as the key-ring goes through the cap - duh) and is one of the slimmest and most compact you will find - the entire body being little wider than the USB (2) plug that connects it to your laptop.

Crucial has been a popular supplier of memory chips for personal computers for some time, and now it’s showing its competitive edge in the production of flash-memory drives. The 256Mb Gizmo! used by Online passed the key-ring test, and all the others thrown up by everyday use. It is robust, quick and has a basic but effective security program (PC only) to protect your sensitive files (the only downside is that you can’t view both the open and hidden files on screen at the same time). Last but not least in the list of features is the price - an extremely reasonable pound;27.99 ex VAT for 256Mb.
