Parents have withdrawn six children from a village school after claims that the headteacher had shoved, pinched and pulled pupils and hit them on the head with a book and a ruler.

Three families withdrew their children from the 42-pupil Wilden CE lower school, near Bedford, in protest after a social services inquiry cleared headteacher Dorothy Wilson of cruelty.
