When is someone going to substantiate with evidence the opinion that drama is a soft option (TES, August 9)? See how any A-level student reacts when you suggest it may be.

I realise there are great maths teachers out there because I have worked with some of them. But maybe one of the (most significant) reasons why students opt for subjects at AS-level is because they enjoy them and they are taught by brilliant, interesting and inspiring teachers.
