IN THE 2000-2001 academic year the robotics competition for eight to 11-year- olds, organised by Reading University department of cybernetics, will be run again, this time nationally with schools from around the UK.

This school-based project culminates with a one-day final judging event. There will also be a robotics competition for 11 to 14-year-olds and a university challenge.

Last year five universities took part in a robot volleyball competition. That may well be the challenge this time round for secondary school children.

All schools are welcome. No previous experience, scientific background or technical laboratory suppot is required.
