Schools are to pioneer new ways to involve fathers after research showed it could improve children’s exam results and attendance.

In projects at dozens of schools fathers will take part in cookery, reading, crafts, computing and football, said a report from the National Family and Parenting Institute. The report comes after the Department for Education and Skills urged schools to involve fathers and father figures more.
