Year 6 pupils from two local primaries recently discovered what it’s like to be in the biscuit making business when they took part in a “production line” technology event we organised for them at Lathom High School, Skelmersdale, Lancashire. The pupils, from Dalton and Fairlie primaries, worked in teams, decorating their biscuits with edible designs and making their own packaging. At Lathom High we have developed a continuing project to improve the transition between key stage 2 and KS3 in design and technology. It’s a successful collaboration between our Damp;T department, our LEAteacher advisers and the Damp;T co-ordinators of our feeder primaries.

Lynn Unsworth, head of Damp;T, Lathom High School, Lancashire.
