(Photograph) - Primary pupils from seven schools in the Blairgowrie area benefited from a week of workshops last week led by Scottish Ballet as part of the Commonwealth Dance Festival, culminating in a performance of their work on Friday.

They were taking part in the Spirit of Friendship Festival education programme designed by the Commonwealth Institute to promote citizenship education. The schools are also part of Sportscotland’s active primary school programme, which allowed them to explore the theme of “Commonwealth dance”.

Meanwhile, Jack McConnell, First Minister, has announced that Scotland will play host to the 15th conference of Commonwealth education ministers, which will be held in Edinburgh late next year. Photograph by Alan Richardson.
