This game for two or more is designed to support the citizenship and PSHE schemes of work.
Give each player a “Lend a hand” (LAH) card. Players throw a dice to see who moves first. If you land on the foot of a ladder, go up it. If you land on a snake’s tail, wait until another player also lands on one. This player chooses whether to help the first trapped player or not. If he or she agrees to help, the first trapped player moves on their next turn without going down the snake and the helper keeps their LAH card. If the second trapped player does not help, they play on as normal, but lose their LAH card; the first player slides down the snake. If two or more players are stranded on snakes without LAH cards, others can choose to help all those stuck if they too land on a snake , or not help anyone, provided they have their cards. If no LAH cards are left, players simply slide down the snakes without waiting.
If you land on a “decision time” square, pick a decision card. All players must agree on a decision before anyone can move on.
