Sixth-formers in two Hertfordshire schools found themselves at the centre of a political storm when taped interviews with their Tory MP David Evans, were leaked to the press.
Mr Evans was being interviewed for general studies projects at Stanborough School when he said his Labour opponent, school inspector Melanie Johnson, had “three bastard children” and had never done a proper job in her life.
And pupils at Sir Fredric Osborn School, where he was being interviewed for a mock election, told staff they were “outraged” when Mr Evans went further, spouting racist abuse and referring to “Krauts”.
His comments prompted widespread criticism and calls for him to stand down as an MP.
