If the Government is hoping to find ways to make cuts in the education budget during the current recession, may I suggest they look no further than the Institute for Learning.
Having taught in adult education since 1995, I cannot imagine how forcing me to join this body is going to make a jot of difference to my professionalism, experience or qualifications. All it does is drain money out of the FE sector as it has to pay the membership fee.
Do other readers share my views, or is there an advantage in belonging to bodies such as this?
