Ubiquitous Professor Brian Boyd of Strathclyde University reminisced about his early rise up the school management ladder when he addressed the Selmas conference (page four) at Stirling University last Friday.
When he began teaching, you could walk into virtually any post because of staff shortages. Into his third year at the chalkface, the young Boyd went for his promotion interview.
He confessed: “I got the job because I could string two sentences together and was warm to the touch.”
