Dead days

Death, as we all know, is the only certainty in life, and it is the last taboo. But this has not deterred students at the University of East Anglia’s museology course. They have organised an exhibition, Days of the Dead: Celebration, Commemoration, Cult, at the Sainsbury’s Centre for Visual Arts in Norwich which opened yesterday until July 14.

Queen Victoria’s mourning stockings and a coffin in the shape of a Mercedes Benz are among the items on display. Events include a children’s drama group performance based on an African folktale, a family workshop, films and talks.
