Deaf children

Tom Deveson

Six children in every 1,000 need educational support because of hearing loss, and many more experience temporary deafness at some time during their lives. They can all too often feel emotionally adrift in a hearing world that misunderstands them. What Are You Feeling? is an A4 booklet of 64 pages that aims to help them develop an appropriate vocabulary. There are suggestions for discussions, role-plays and related activities. Using 20 two-page spreads featuring simple picture stories, it triggers the use of words of increasing emotional complexity, from "happy" and "bored" to "frustrated" and "calm".
