The college escaped closure this year after one of the most dramatic rescue packages was introduced to turn around debts of Pounds 870,000. It was one of more than 50 English and Welsh colleges in crisis last year.
The entire Felinfach campus will shut in June as will the Pounds 100,000 loss-making agricultural department which has trained staff for Dyfed farmers for more than 40 years. Aberystwyth university will take over the work but Ceredigion staff say closure will mean students in isolated areas having to travel long distances. Cyril Lewis, acting principal, said management was “desperately concerned” to see the student population was accommodated.
