THIS cyberspace malarkey has further-reaching consequences than we realised. An e-mail arrives from teacher Tricia !@amp;*inson, star of last week’s Diary, and the victim of an overzealous Internet obscenity-weeding programme.
Tricia, whose surname we can now reveal is (sensitive readers look away now) Dickinson, tells us she has been forced to take drastic measures - and adopt a new identity to evade the censors.
Just married (congratulations), she had no plans to adopt her beau’s surname, Lockhart, at work ... until now. “Finding your surname is too risque for the Internet devalues it rather,” she writes. “Next academic year I shall probably abandon it.”
