(Photograph) - Richard Spencer, who won the award for FE Tutor of the Year, helps his students bone up on biology in all sorts of ways. That’s why they nominated him. When they’re not trying on animal skulls, they’re learning through games such as bingo, verbal tennis, dominoes, wheel of fortune, and snakes and ladders. They’re even allowed to indulge in occasional graffiti, as well as shaking their booty while mamba dancing. Richard, who teaches biology at Bede College in Billingham, was also nominated by the college principal for sharing good practice and for having retention and pass rates significantly above average.
