Last week Sam Galbraith had another example of in-your-face sentiment when he made his Parliamentary statement on the teachers’ committee of inquiry.

“Does he seriously think he knows better than 98 per cent of Scottish teachers?” asked Independent Labour Dennis Canavan, referring to the union ballots. And would Galbraith give up his “arrogant and intransigent” approach?

The minister observed that Canavan was being “very comradely as usual”. The best that gentle Sam could muster was to tell the MSP for Falkirk West:

“Stop hanging on to the past.”
