An article on a tribunal hearing, published in FE Focus (“Department settles out of court over racist allegations”, October 24), contained inaccuracies.

Rashpal Chana applied for a temporary post in science at the Department for Education and Skills, not at Wolverhampton College.

Communications with Jane Williams were made in her capacity as director of teaching and learning (designate) at the Standards Unit and not as college principal. Mr Chana was not contacted by anyone at the college.

The Office for Standards in Education inspection report in January praised the college’s commitment to equality of opportunity, its awareness of and respect for cultural diversity across and exemplary academic standards of ethnic minority students.

We apologise for the errors in last week’s report.
